Music and the Impossible Images of Escher @ Elder Hall

Have you ever wondered what music the artist Maurits Cornelis Escher listened to for inspiration? What would his works sound like translated into music? On Tuesday night in Elder Hall these thoughts may cross the minds of people gathered for a free night of music and art.

Rudolf Escher,  the nephew of the famous artist, will present an Australian premiere of two works ……Clarinet Sonata 1978 and Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano. There’s another world premiere by ERKKI VELTHEIM called GOSSOLALIA 1.

Chris Mortensen will give an illustrated talk on the impossible images of M C Escher and enlightens a mathematically challenged Nikki Marcel about the mathematical theories behind impossible pictures.
